Technical certification of the voting machine type for the presidential election on 25 October has been completed, Bulgaria's Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transformation said on Friday, according to the BTA news agency. The decision stating that the machines comply with the Election Code and the technical specification was issued by Minister Ivan Vasilev, the acting head of the Bulgarian Institute of Metrology and the board chair of the Bulgarian Institute for Standardization. It has been published on the ministry's website together with a conformity assessment report.

To make the certification as professional, verifiable and open as possible, external experts chosen through a transparent selection procedure also took part, the ministry said. The report and decision have been sent to the Central Election Commission. CEC Chair Georgi Horozov said on Thursday that once the documents were received, the software would be installed on the machines and then verified.
