Berlin police have arrested a 25-year-old woman suspected of pasting posters on offices of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in the German capital, a police spokesperson told the dpa news agency. The State Criminal Police Office opened an investigation, which is being handled by its state security division. Details of where and how she was detained were not disclosed.

The posters, designed like wanted notices, show black-and-white portraits of nine CDU members of Saxony-Anhalt's state parliament under the line "Conservatives are once again clearing the way for fascists!" They appear to refer to the election of AfD politician Tobias Rausch as speaker of the state parliament in Magdeburg, who in a secret ballot received four more votes than the AfD and BSW have seats.

The CDU parliamentary group in Saxony-Anhalt condemned the posters. Its leader, Sven Schulze, said portraying lawmakers "with photos and names like wanted criminals is completely unacceptable." The suspect is presumed innocent.
