Comme des Garçons presented its spring/summer 2027 collection during Paris Fashion Week on 3 October. Designer Rei Kawakubo built globular, wadding-stuffed silhouettes that, according to AnOther Magazine, turned the models into abstract, Henry VIII-like figures. Denim was the main fabric, combined with tassels, bullion fringe, feathers and fur.
The most striking element was the headwear: every model wore a pinchbeck crown, which critic Alexander Fury described as an imitation of imperial originals. Runway Magazine reads the crowns as a second silhouette above the body and a ceremonial reference. AnOther cites the motto "When royal life and everyday life become one" as the show's concept; Kawakubo herself did not elaborate.
The opening look featured dark denim in a rounded, enlarged shape, with red ruffles spilling through jagged openings. The show closed with four oversized pairs of jeans, one with what Fury called "Versailles-defying" panniers. Smaller-scale versions appeared in the showroom a few days later.
