Actor Julianne Moore has swapped her longtime West Village townhouse for a two-bedroom duplex. According to a CNN report on Architectural Digest’s (AD) November issue, the apartment sits atop a 1920s building that was originally a residential hotel. Moore lives there with her husband, director Bart Freundlich.
The renovation took eight months and was led by her brother-in-law, architectural designer Oliver Freundlich – reportedly their sixth project together. Additions include a kitchen pantry and a bedroom closet; the home mixes pre-owned and new furniture, including French mid-century chairs Moore bought in Paris in 1995. “I love modernism. But this apartment is prewar, and you have to address that,” Moore told AD.
The embedded video from AD’s “Open Door” series is, according to its title, a tour of Moore’s rooftop home in New York. AD previously featured Moore’s former West Village home with its garden in 2012 and 2017.
