Sofia Fashion Week returns from 13 to 15 October with a new concept. Under the motto "Next Gen – Where New Talent Meets Business", shows start at 7 pm each evening in the Sofia Grand hall of Hotel Marinela. The first night features debut collections by students and young designers from Bulgaria and abroad, the second Bulgarian and international designers, and the third couture and eveningwear.
According to the organisers, selected students and young designers take part free of charge. More than 500 people attended the model casting. The face of the edition is Alisia Radeva, granddaughter of Olympic wrestling champion Boyan Radev.
Hotel Marinela says it is staging the October edition as a socially responsible initiative and also as a platform for business contacts. "We want to create a place where talent meets a real audience," the hotel management said, according to Dir.bg. According to LadyZone, employment in Bulgaria's textile and apparel sector fell from about 160,000 to around 86,000 within a decade.
