Hertha Berlin play SSV Jeddeloh II in the German Cup second round on Wednesday (Oct. 28, 6 p.m. local time) at the Marschweg-Stadion in Oldenburg. The club said the game is sold out, with around 5,500 Hertha supporters travelling. “5,500 from Berlin on a Wednesday evening – that is sensational, thank you very much,” coach Stefan Leitl told a news conference on Monday.
Leitl warned against underestimating the regional league side: “We are taking the opponent very, very seriously, a team that scored five goals against Heidenheim.” Jeddeloh II knocked out Bundesliga club Heidenheim 5-2 in the first round and are now coached by Burak Bahar, a former assistant coach in Hertha's academy.
Hertha arrive as unbeaten leaders of the 2. Bundesliga after a 1-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld. According to fussballdaten.de, Gustaf Nilsson, Márton Dárdai and Boris Mamuzah Lum are unavailable, and Leitl said he would rotate only a little. Next up in the league is 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
