Gap and Victoria Beckham are continuing their partnership: on 23 October their second joint collection launches online and in select Gap stores across North America, the UK, Europe, Japan, China, Australia and the Middle East. The 37 autumn and winter pieces focus mainly on knitwear in cashmere, merino wool and Gap's CashSoft. They are joined by outerwear such as an oversized parka, a satin bomber jacket and a wool-blend Chesterfield coat, as well as high-rise and low-slung jeans, denim jackets and corduroy pieces.
The colour palette of charcoal, deep greens, warm browns and deep reds is inspired, according to Gap, by works in the Doris and Donald Fisher Collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Beckham said the aim was to build on the design language of the first collection, with more focus on texture, proportion and layering. Gap CEO Mark Breitbard said the partnership had been envisioned in two chapters from the start and that the response to the spring collection confirmed its direction. The campaign stars model Mona Tougaard, photographed by Glen Luchford and styled by Alastair McKimm.
