Two 18-year-olds were robbed in Berlin's Wilmersdorf district on Thursday evening, police said. At around 10:35 p.m., three youths or young adults allegedly struck up a conversation with the pair on Uhlandstrasse before attacking them with a knife and pepper spray.
One of the 18-year-olds suffered a stab wound to the back as well as eye and airway irritation and was treated in hospital, according to police. His companion was allegedly punched in the face several times and robbed of items including his phone and bank card.
Officers detained a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old nearby and found two pepper sprays on them. Police will seek an arrest warrant for the 17-year-old, while the 18-year-old was handed to the State Criminal Police Office on an existing warrant. The third suspect fled. The motive is unclear and the investigation is ongoing.
