A suspected explosive device detonated overnight into Monday at Stuttgarter Platz in Berlin's Charlottenburg district, police said. Residents reported hearing a loud bang. At around 9:30 a.m., a 63-year-old witness reported apparent impact marks on two vehicles.

According to the investigation so far, another car and the windows of a nearby apartment were also damaged. Police said the damage suggests an unknown object was detonated on the roadway. No one was injured.

The BAO Ferrum special unit of the state criminal police, which targets violent groups and gun crime, has taken over the investigation. Police have not given any information on suspects or a motive.
