Tesla wants to expand its plant in Grünheide (Brandenburg) with a new production hall, the German Press Agency (dpa) reported on Thursday, 15 October. The goal is up to one million cars a year – twice the 500,000 planned so far, a figure not yet reached. Tesla aims to file for the second partial permit by the end of the year. The size of the hall and the amount of investment are open. According to Tesla, 12,600 people work there today; it plans to hire 2,000 for car production and more than 1,500 for battery cells.

Games publisher Ubisoft on Thursday confirmed talks with works councils at its studios in Düsseldorf, Mainz and Berlin (Ubisoft Blue Byte, about 580 staff). It plans a voluntary leave programme; severance terms are not confirmed. Industry outlet Game File reports that about 100 jobs could go; Ubisoft gives no number. At machine maker Trumpf (Ditzingen), the number of staff in Germany fell by 7.1% to 8,675 in the 2025/26 financial year. Machine maker Pedax in Bitburg (Eifel, more than 100 staff) has filed for insolvency; operations continue.

In retail, the future of 36 Tegut supermarkets is still open: there is no buyer for them yet, and all stores stay open until a takeover. Amazon said it has invested more than EUR 100bn in Germany since 2010, including EUR 15bn in 2025. It plans to present new projects at the 'Invest in Germany Summit' on 19–20 October. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reported that local business tax (Gewerbesteuer, a municipal tax on company profits) reached a record EUR 76.4bn in 2025 (+1.5%). In Baden-Württemberg it fell by 7.2%.

The table has two new entries, neither with a fixed amount or job number. The totals therefore stay the same: EUR 2.47bn in investment and 5,840 announced job cuts with a firm number. To keep the table at 25 rows, the oldest entries without a number are dropped (Carl Zeiss Meditec, Schaeffler).
