SOFIX gains over 10% in a week – Friday close at 1,679.50 points
On Friday SOFIX rose 0.16% to 1,679.50 points, up about 10.4% on the week. A €13.1 million block of Fibank shares lifted turnover. Petrol jumped 18.46%.
These are Friday's closing prices from 23 October, the last session of the week. SOFIX, the main index of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange in Sofia, rose 0.16% to 1,679.50 points. It was the sixth gain in a row. BGBX40 (the 40 most liquid shares) added 0.19% to 264.76, and BGTR30 (30 equally weighted shares) 0.39% to 1,200.49. Only the real-estate index BGREIT slipped, by 0.07% to 245.01.
It was a very strong week. Compared with Friday 16 October, SOFIX is about 10.4% higher. BGBX40 gained about 7.3%, BGTR30 about 3.5% and BGREIT about 0.5%.
Total exchange turnover was €20.47 million in 742 trades. Most of it came from one stock: First Investment Bank (Fibank) with €13.37 million. At 11:23 a block trade went through – 2.75 million shares at €4.76 each, €13.09 million in total. A day earlier the bank had announced a buyback, meaning it buys its own shares on the market. Fibank closed at €4.80 (+2.13%). Chimimport rose 4.44% and Sopharma 3.75% to €3.32.
Among energy stocks, Petrol jumped 18.46% to €0.308, but on turnover of just €327. Eurohold Bulgaria, which owns energy utilities, fell 4.19% to €1.83 after Thursday's big rise. Over the week, however, the stock is up 39.69%. The Bobov Dol coal power plant has had no trade since 23 September (€15.00).
