Over the weekend, companies and reputable media in Germany reported no new plants, groundbreakings or closures with figures. The investment total in the table stays at EUR 2.57bn, and announced job cuts with a stated number at 5,199.

Ueckermünde (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania): car-parts supplier Breyden is sticking to its plan to close its iron foundry at the end of the year. That did not change after a meeting with economy minister Wolfgang Blank on Friday evening, Nordkurier reported on Saturday. According to NDR, talks on a social plan – severance and transition – start on Wednesday. The company first cited 320 jobs; Nordkurier writes of almost 300.

Late addition on Siegen (North Rhine-Westphalia): Deutsche Edelstahlwerke plans to 'pause' the Siegen-Geisweid steelworks from mid-2028. According to the IG Metall union, about 400 employees are affected (Siegener Zeitung, Rhein-Zeitung). The company gives no figure, so the entry still does not count towards the totals.

New data will only come next week: on Tuesday (20 Oct) the Federal Statistical Office publishes September producer prices, on Friday (23 Oct) August orders in main construction. Latest unemployment rate: 6.4% in September (Federal Employment Agency).
